Skilled Afforestation Project Manager
for International "Carbon Forestry" Work
We are seeking an experienced forestry project manager to help plan, supervise and "grow" two large "carbon forest" projects (in rural Hungary and Queen Charlotte Islands, BC, Canada).
Initial project specs envision reforestation/afforestation of tens of thousands of hectares with old-growth, mixed-species plantings in permanent "climate forest parks."
Desired Skills & Experience
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in silviculture, ecology and/or forest science preferred. Long term employment or other extensive experience may be substituted for formal education.
- Substantial experience with or knowledge of forest/ecosystem restoration strategies
- Hands on forest survey, mapping, and data analysis skills
- Significant knowledge, skills, and experience in mixed species reforestation/afforestation project management
- Some familiarity with carbon forestry, Kyoto's evolving CO2 mitigation protocols, etc.
- Experience and competence with WinTIPSY and CO2FIX or equally powerful growth and sequestration models
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
- Ability to adapt, interact, and function effectively in diverse cultural environments
- General computer literacy and MS Windows fluency
Compensation
Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience. Starting date is immediate.
